Clayton Road over I-95 Bridge Replacement
This project is currently part of the Northbound Extension of the I-95 Express Toll Lanes. The bridge was lengthened and the profile raised slightly to accommodate the future full width of I-95. The bridge is currently being constructed under a full detour utilizing nearby Mountain Road over I-95. The semi-integral abutments and corrosion resistant reinforcing were a first for MDTA and will reduce maintenance costs over the life of the bridge.
In addition to the replacement of the Clayton Road bridge, Six M is currently replacing an existing single cell box culvert crossing under Clayton Road. The existing box is being replaced with a double cell box culvert in order to handle future hydraulic flow after the widening of I-95 is completed. Six M chose to replace the existing cast-in-place box with precast box segments, cast-in-place end sections and cast-in-place wing walls.
The project has a completion date of May 2022.
