Some history about The Six-M Company

The Name

It’s simple.  The company was founded by the Mattlin family.  Two parents – Tom Sr. and Lois and four sons – Tom Jr., Mike, Ken and Bill.  Thus the Six Mattlins, or The Six M Company, Inc.

The Beginning

Tom Mattlin Sr. chased bridge work to the East Coast from Cincinnati.  As Tom and Lois’s boys grew they followed in their father’s footsteps. After many stops, they decided to make Delta, Pa. their home.  Tom, Lois and the boys wanted to try construction on their own.  Founded by the family of six, the company started off small performing mostly State work. With limited equipment, small crews and barely making ends meet, the company struggled at times but never gave up their dream to be a major player in the Greater Baltimore Area.

The Now

With fifty employees and a lot more equipment, the company is still going strong.  With more family members joining and with many dedicated employees being with the company since the early 1980s, the company still has the same family atmosphere as the day it was founded. With a high standard of satisfying the owner and the public, and a great track record when it comes to safety, the company is highly regarded as one of the best heavy highway contractors in the Baltimore region to work with.
